weteach.lu is a digital marketplace offering teaching materials for educators, primarily in Luxembourgish primary schools.

The platform was already established and actively used, but needed continuous technical care and a refreshed, more modern frontpage that better presented the content and the creators on the platform.

Context

“Sich de Boxemännchen” is a local initiative in Dudelange featuring 24 decorated cellar windows, each showing a unique miniature world with a small “Boxemännchen” figure.

Families and children explore the town by discovering these windows — a playful, winter-themed urban trail.

SITD wanted a mobile-first interactive map that makes the route easy to follow and allows visitors to navigate directly from one boxemännchen to the next.

What we did

• Designed a mobile-first interactive map optimised for walking and quick orientation
• Created a custom WordPress system to manage all 24 points of interest (POIs)
• Built a clean interface that works fast and smoothly on smartphones
• Implemented a navigation feature: tapping a marker opens the point directly in the user’s native Maps app
• Structured a minimal and intuitive layout so families can use it easily during the walk
• Provided hosting, monitoring, security and long-term maintenance through Loftwierk

Result

The Boxemännchen map is an easy and engaging way for families and children to explore the 24 miniature worlds across Dudelange.
